Health warning after bizarre ‘sleepy chicken’ cooking challenge goes viral

6PR BREAKFAST

US health officials are warning people of the dangers of cooking raw chicken soaked in cold and flu medicines.

The warning comes in response to a trend on social media from January 2022 that has re-emerged, with social media platforms such as TikTok deleting search results for ‘Nyquil chicken’.

US correspondent Charles Feldman told Michael Genovese, in for Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast, cooking chicken with the popular over-the-counter medicine began as a joke online, but the technique took off.

“Did you get served a chicken dinner and look at your chicken cutlet and think, ‘you know that chicken looks like maybe it had a bad head cold’?” Feldman asked Gena.
