CCI boss believes border closure will hurt WA economy

Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Andrew McKellar told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast trade was essential for WA.

He said Western Australia will hurt economically by delaying its border opening.

“This is a step that they have had a long time to prepare for,” Mr McKellar said.

“I think Western Australia is part of the Australian economy. You are facing severe shortages on labour on many of those big investment projects that will drive the productivity and living stands in WA in the years ahead.

“It’s impossible to get the skilled workers that you need at the moment.”
