The plan to combat the chronic worker shortage in our agricultural industries

The Federal Government are set to introduce a plan to combat the chronic and worsening worker shortage in our agricultural industries around the country.  It is understood that the Government will extend visas for backpackers and seasonal workers and offer incentives to welfare recipients. Under the plan people on Job Seeker will be able to earn up to $300 a fortnight in agriculture industries without it impacting their payment.

David Lock, Chairperson of Odeum Farms says that the situation is pretty dire and while they would prefer Australians to do the work, typically Australian workers prefer to do work that is less hard.
