Holiday home provider says regulation will move the unprofessional players out of the market

A parliamentary committee looking into short stay accommodation in the state, including Air BnB, has tabled its report making a total of 10 recommendations.

They include setting up a central register, coordinating State departments, updating planning and strata guidelines and making online platforms more transparent.

Short stay accommodation business Private Properties has managed holiday homes for over 25-years in popular areas like the south-west, Peel and Swan Valley. Managing Director David Moyes welcomes the report saying state-wide regulation is a good idea.

“We already have regulation in the Margaret River region. So this brings the whole state into line and makes it a uniform registration process. Which I think will help all of the stakeholders.”
