Press PLAY to hear Leigh Cometti discuss why mining tyres are ending up in landfill
Leigh Cometti, managing director of CTS Tyre Recycling and chair of the Australian Tyre Recyclers Association, told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the mining industry is legally permitted to bury, stockpile or send more than 100,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres to landfill every year.
“We’re asking for the government to move towards a ban on the landfill of tyres so we can avoid those valuable commodities being stockpiled or landfilled”, Cometti said.
