Scott Baxter has caught the attention of marine scientists after unknowingly capturing rare footage of a fin whale swimming off Cape Naturaliste.

Speaking with 6PR Mornings presenter Simon Beaumont, Baxter said a number of scientists have been in touch.

“My DMs have just gone crazy over the last two days with marine mammal scientists reaching out and just wanting to get a closer look at the footage because, from what I’ve heard, they’ve not had any visual encounters with a fin whale before in Australian waters,” he said.
