Last year, WA schools saw a surge in disciplinary action, with 185 students handed expulsion orders and over 20,000 suspended in 2025.

Adam Voight, former principal and founder of Real Schools, told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that we are far too credential-focused, arguing that shaping good people is what truly matters.

“What we need to do is to support our schools to start to build cultures to cater for children as they are … focusing on the job of a school, which is to build decent people for tomorrow, not necessarily children who’ve got a certificate”, Voight said.
