As Western Australian builders face at least a year of brick rationing, many are looking beyond traditional double-brick homes.

Jason Janssen, chairman of the Home Buyers Action Group, told 6PR Drive host Jamie Burnett that while alternatives sound good in theory, the industry currently lacks the capacity to deliver them at scale, flagging shortages in not only bricks but also glass and laminate products.

“If you convert from double brick to framework, we don’t necessarily have the capacity to complete those homes with the framing contractors”, Janssen said.
