6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont led a tribute to Western Australian surfing icon Mark Lane, who died over the weekend, leaving the surfing community in mourning.

Beaumont spoke with Adrian Sheppard – a close friend of Lane’s and member of the Albany Boardriders – about the man Beaumont described as thoughtful, talented and creative, saying he always had time for everyone.

“His legacy is as a person with a brilliant mind, communication skills and an extraordinary ability to build the surfing community”, Sheppard said.

adding “He was the most beautiful human who you could ever meet.”

Female surfing legend Layne Beachley also called in to the 6PR Mornings show to share her tribute to Mark.

“I loved his honesty, I loved his integrity, I loved his style of leadership. He was very inclusive. He was always invested in the future and leaving things in a better place,” she said.
