A new diagnostic blood test for Alzheimer’s disease has been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

In an Australian first, this test identifies key brain proteins in just 18 minutes.

Dementia Australia’s Dr Michael Woodward told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that it will transform early detection.

“In about 80 per cent of cases it will give you a strong answer as to whether you will or will not develop Alzheimer’s in the next 20 years”, he said.
