In an incredible 100-million-year-old discovery, the fossils of three prehistoric creatures have been found together in outback Queensland.

Palaeontologist and lead author Dr Matt White told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that a pterosaur (a flying reptile) was found in the stomach contents of an ichthyosaur (a marine reptile), which in turn had been consumed by a Kronosaurus – one of the largest marine predators ever recorded.

“This really explains an interesting trophic interaction between these three animals which has never been recorded before”, he said.
