The City of Melville has sent vision of a rubbish truck fire to 6PR to highlight the dangers of disposing of batteries in general waste, recycling or FOGO bins.

Resource recovery and fleet services manager Paul Molony told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that such incidents are becoming more common, warning that this careless disposal puts drivers and the community at risk.

“There’s lots of opportunities to do the right thing, and they’re all free”, he said.
