Bid to save Neil the Seal as risks mount
A petition has been launched to protect Tasmania’s famous resident, Neil the Seal, from potential euthanasia. Over 70,000 people have called on the Tasmanian government to implement a non-lethal management plan for the marine animal.

Clarence City Council Cr Emma Goyne told 6PR Breakfast hosts Karl Langdon and Mick Colliss that public “stupidity” is placing the seal at lethal risk.
“The risk is by people encroaching on the safety zones, that they might get hurt. Unfortunately Neil would obviously pay the ultimate price for people’s stupidity,” she said.
