A young Perth runner with autism, Juliette Mason, has once again been unable to compete at Nationals after officials disallowed her request to have her carer escort her to the track.

Juliette’s mum, Mandy Mason, explained to 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the same highly qualified technical delegate denied Juliette from competing last year.

“When this happened in 2025 we went to Sports Integrity Australia, they did a full investigation and found systematic deficiencies in the organisation regarding their knowledge of disabilities, in particular autism,” she said.
