Beyond the boat: 20 years of the Recreational Skippers Ticket expanding safety in WA
Twenty years ago, Karl became the number one Recreational Skippers Ticket holder, launching a hugely successful initiative, with about 300,000 tickets issued.

Laurie Adams, from the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, explained to 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that with many more types of craft on the water these days – including jet-skis, kayaks, paddleboards, and kite surfers – he recommended that these water users could also benefit from doing the Recreational Skippers Ticket course to help them stay safe.
“It gives you the background and the understanding of what other boats are doing out there, and makes sure you know what they are doing, and you can keep out of their way,” he said.
