The introduction of AI cameras has resulted in a constant stream of fines, now totalling over $18,000 and counting, for one listener who holds a medical exemption.

The time-consuming process of reversing these fines was raised by 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont with the Department of Transport.

Although helpful, the DOT admitted the only fix was to manually keep an eye on the automated system on Rob’s behalf.

As a result, the listener notes the inherent flaw: “Everything is done as one size fits all and nobody goes through and sees the ramifications of things.” said Rob.
