Health experts are seeing an emerging correlation between tattoos and eye issues.

Alex Cairns, President of The Australian Tattooists Guild, explained to 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the link seems to be most noticed in WA and Victoria, which are some of the least regulated states for tattooing in the country.

Cairns noted: “It is an area of concern, it definitely requires more research and investigation,” he said.

Furthermore, Associate Professor Nicole Carnt explained that some cases have occurred years after the tattoo was done, suggesting:

“If they have this inflammation in the eye, if they have a tattoo and that is also inflamed that this might be an association,” she said.
