A Perth local has alerted 6PR Perth Today to an alarming discovery: large containers of nitrous oxide, also known as nangs being left”everywhere’.

Caller Sam says he’s been spotting the boxes for a while now, but has noticed a sudden increase.

“It was only always the nangs everywhere, and you’d see hundreds of those in the one spot,” he said

“But obviously they got too hard to carry, too hard to handle,” he added.

Toxicology expert and senior lecturer at the College of Pharmacology at the University of Adelaide Dr Ian Musgrave says while the drug can feel euphoric to use, there are a lot of dangers and harm it causes.

“If you have too much of it, it starts setting off an oxidative stress cascade, which can damage the brain,” he said.
