‘Turned out well’: Former US ambassador looks back on Rudd’s time in role
Kevin Rudd will soon step down as the Australian ambassador to the US, a year earlier than expected.
Press PLAY to hear who could replace him
Former Australian ambassador to the US Arthur Sinodinos AO says the public interaction between Rudd and US President Donald Trump “turned out well.”
“It was an opportunity for Trump to get stuff off his chest … and it was an opportunity for Kevin to go up afterwards and apologise over his remarks,” he told Millsy and Karl
Mr Sinodinos also says the former Prime Minister’s replacement will likely be someone affiliated with the Labor Party, either a current MP or someone who is no longer in politics.
“That’s often the case with both London and Washington. They’re seen as political appointments,” he added.
