Safety fears mount as Penguin Island Ferry closure puts tourists’ lives in jeopardy
With the Penguin Island Ferry now closed, visitors are left with unsafe access options, including swimming, paddling, boating, or walking.

Chad de’Souza, Perth Wildlife Encounters CEO, told Perth Today host Chrissy Morrissy that the island is a major tourism draw, bringing in about 120,000 international visitors every year.
“Our biggest fear at this stage is people and the risk of them trying to get over there,” he said.
