The public health groups are pushing for the Health Star Rating system to be made mandatory, demanding decisive action and a clear timeline.

Dr Penny Brotja, RMIT University Sensory, Nutrition and food lecturer, explains to Perth Live host Oliver Peterson that the current system has major flaws that must be dealt with:

“Potentially some sort of rating system where you can compare the healthiness of all products as a whole would be a better system to help consumers to make that informed decision,” she said.
