Fifty years ago today, 100 officers began their career in the WA Police Force, including 6PR’s friend, Former Police Superintendent David Parkinson.

Click PLAY as Parki reminisces about the force 50 years ago.

Speaking to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont, Parki noted that his alumni includes Karl O’Callaghan, who holds the distinction of being the longest-serving post-war Police Commissioner.

Parki expects many amazing stories to be shared at the reunion, including details of his own dramatic swearing-in:

“I woke up on the 3rd of November 1975, incredibly ill, I’d had some blood disorder, and I’m the only copper that ever got sworn in sitting down, and the next day I was in hospital,” he said.
