Tessa Esparon, a licensed reptile rehabilitator, informed Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that the wet and warm conditions prompt increased turtle activity.
She emphasized the importance of keeping an eye out for them on the road, adding that the cancellation of some turtle tracker programs by councils means foxes remain a significant threat.
Esparon stressed the critical juncture the species faces: “We’re at that pivotal stage where we either act or we just let the species decline.”
