Despite record sales, Australian EV adoption lags government goals

Australia’s electric vehicle (EV) sales have reached an all-time high, but the country is still falling short of government targets.

Aman Gaur, Head of Legal, Policy and Advocacy at the Electric Vehicle Council, explained to Perth Live host Oliver Peterson that we need to more than double the number of EVs by 2027.
He added that further action is required to meet this goal, including a commitment to ban registration on internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035.
“Make the gradual shift that we need to do in the national interest to help secure our country,” he said.
