Pharmacists in GP-underserved areas are commencing training to treat and prescribe for various conditions, significantly expanding their roles.

Natalie Willis, Senior Vice President of the Pharmacy Guild WA, explained to 6PR Breakfast host Millsy and Jamie that the first cohort has started training, with the pilot set to begin at the end of 2026.

‘The pilot will begin with mainly what we term acute illnesses, so the kind where it’s easily resolved with the right treatment,’ she said.
