Optus is facing significant criticism regarding the timeline and insufficient communication surrounding its recent outage, which notably failed to connect hundreds of triple-0 calls which have been linked to multiple deaths.

As an official investigation into the telco commences, Perth Live host Oliver Peterson interviewed Dr. Neryl East, a communication and credibility expert.
Dr. East discussed Optus’s management of the incident and projected the potential consequences for the company and its CEO, who has been in the role for less than 12 months, stating: “Its very very hard to recover from such a terrible start, and how do you defend a business against the seemingly indefensible,” she said.
