Cattle farmers turn to the ocean for methane reduction

A 32-hectare seaweed farm in Cockburn Sound is actively contributing to the reduction of cattle methane emissions.

Chris De Cuyper of Fremantle Seaweed informed Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that the seaweed Asparagopsis thrives exceptionally well in Western Australia.
He explained, “A seaweed that was discovered by CSIRO that if you feed it to cattle as a supplement, so it’s just 63 grams a day, it reduces the cattle’s methane emissions by 80%.”
