Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck is advocating for a united approach from both state and federal governments to address Australia’s illicit tobacco trade.

Speaking with Perth Live host Oliver Peterson, Senator Colbeck highlighted that organised crime’s grip on the tobacco market is spiralling out of control, emphasising that reducing the excise duty must be central to the government’s strategy.

“I think they need to reconsider not only the excise but the approach that we’re taking as a nation to managing illicit tobacco across the board,” he said.
