Accusations of price-gouging are being levelled against the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board, following an $8.5m surplus last financial year, growing an already substantial investment fund.

Shadow Minister for Deregulation, Jonathon Huston, told Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that with 83% of West Australians opting for cremation, there’s less demand on cemeteries.

As he stated, “This is a case of excessive fees over a long period of time.”
