Legislation introduced by the state government this year, criminalising social media posts of illegal activity, is raising concerns due to its potentially broad scope.

Activist and journalist Jesse Noakes informed Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that the ‘Post and Boast’ bill’s lack of clarity could undermine media freedom and freedom of expression.

According to Noakes, “As the bill currently sits, it simply doesn’t pass muster, it’s not clear what’s in and what’s out, it’s not clear where the limits are.”
