A troubling new report indicates that renters feel so insecure in their living situations that 70% of tenants are hesitant to report essential repairs.

Cassandra Goldie AO, ACOSS CEO, informed Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that renters are afraid of repercussions like rent hikes, eviction, or non-renewal of their lease if they bring up these concerns.

“People are not speaking up, and nobody wins out of that; it’s not good for the landlords either if they don’t know that there are important repairs that need to be done in their property,” she said.
