Shocking statistics drive calls for a Senior Dental Benefits Scheme

The Australian Dental Association has run an extensive survey, which showed that two in three people over 65 are delaying going to the dentist because they can’t afford it.

Council on the Ageing CEO Patricia Sparrow explained to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont the impact this is having on seniors’ health as she advocates for a Senior Dental Benefits Scheme.

“They just can’t afford to go, they delay it, they don’t go at all, they put up with pain, they’re often embarrassed, they’re not eating properly,” she said.
