On Perth Live today, Oly Peterson revealed that senior Federal National Party MP’s have been working overtime to recruit Mia Davies, as a candidate for the new WA electoral seat at the next federal election.

The seat of Bullwinkel — which will take in Beverley, Northam, Toodyay, York, Armadale, Gosnells, Kalamunda, Mundaring and Swan was announced in a shake-up of the electoral map last month.

It will bring the number of WA members elected at the next federal election to 16.

“It’s a big task for the Nationals to convince Mia Davies to run for Bullwinkle and represent the Party in Canberra,” says Oly.

The ex-National and Opposition Leader stood down from her role in 2023, declaring she would have no more fuel in the tank by the next election.

“I’ve been very upfront throughout my parliamentary career that I was determined not to be a career parliamentarian, and 17 years I feel is enough for me,” she said at the time.
