Game changer: Innovator aims to ‘re-inflate’ discarded tennis balls

After witnessing the vast number of tennis balls discarded annually, an innovative thinker has devised a method to ‘re-inflate’ tennis balls. He has set a personal challenge to recycle the 48,000 tennis balls discarded after the Australian Open each year.

David Rees told Chrissy Morrissy on 6PR Afternoons that 7 Olympic pools of rubber every year is being wasted.

“The problem is the balls go flat, and they continue to deflate,” Mr Rees said.

“We believe tennis coaches buy a box of balls every three weeks, but with this device we could drop that down to three months.”
