Migration cap needed to avoid housing ‘misery machine’ say economists

Millsy & Karl

One of Australia’s top financial analysts is calling on the Federal Government to cap some migration, as what he describes as the national housing ‘misery machine’ keeps gearing up.

Respected economist Chris Richardson told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it might seem to be against progressive immigration plans, but it’s an unfortunate symptom of our own hubris.

“To be fair, it’s the housing that we’ve stuffed up,” Mr Richardson said.

“The problem is that for decades we’ve been saying ‘no’ to infill and state housing, while we continue to make it unreasonably expensive through red tape.”
