With WA’s hard border officially down, Perth LIVE’s host Oliver Peterson has introduced his parents to their new grandson this morning at Perth Airport.

Oly’s mother, Julie Peterson, says it was an incredible moment.

“It was better than what I ever imagined,” she said. “You build it up in your mind for that moment and physical contact is just magical.”

Oly’s son Henry was born in September last year.

Around 5000 travellers entered WA on Thursday across 31 flights.

6PR reporter, Jake Battrick, says many stories have been shared at Perth Airport.

“It’s been an emotional day for a lot of people. Plenty of tears, some joy and plenty of relief with families re-uniting again. For some, its been the first time they’ve seen loved ones in nearly two years,” he said.
