Bullying, self perception and gender identity are just some of the focuses of a new documentary on body image.

Adelaide filmmaker Taryn Brumfitt, founder of The Body Image Movement and director of documentary Embrace: Kids, said a new documentary to be released September 1 focuses on body loathing and just how pervasive it is in Australia and around the world.

She told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings recent statistics on body image and kids were alarming, with 60 per cent of children aged five to 11 years old want to change something about their body.

“It’s about striking that balance and for kids, that’s learning to be kind to themselves, which allows them to be kind to others,” she said.
