$500,000 of WA tourism vouchers to greet first arrivals

More than $500,000 of free tourism vouchers for some of WA’s most popular tourist experiences will be handed out at Perth Airport tomorrow to mark the opening of the state border.
There will be 3400 ‘Gifts From Western Australia’ encouraging visitors to experience our stunning coastlines, famous food and wine, unique art and culture and ancient Aboriginal history, as well as 200 toy quokkas.
Tourism Council of WA CEO Evan Hall said he didn’t expect leisure tourists to arrive in good numbers until April and in particular the winter season, but said the free voucher campaign would still give businesses a much-needed lift.
“It will help a West Australian family show off Perth,” Mr Hall told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
“There have been some long-time bookings back from 2018/2019 when people booked in their bucket list experience and they’re the ones we’re really looking forward to.”

WA Tourism Minister, Roger Cook, says the Government isn’t worried about the tourism industry for the state.
“Over 26,000 people have already applied for the G2G pass,” he said. “Everyone is making their way to WA – I think it’s an exciting time.”
