Arthur Leggett is an ex-prisoner of war and World War II serviceman.

At only 22 years old, he fought against the Italian army in Libya and the battles of Bardia and Tobruk before being captured by German paratroopers in the Battle of Crete in Greece.

Now at age 103, the veteran is becoming a Fringe Performer telling The Catch Up host, Mark Gibson, that it’s all part of his work with the WA Bush Poets & Yarnspinners association.

“We get together around Australia Day to keep the Australian type of poetry alive,” he said.

Arthur says that he is in the best of health as well.

“I’m growing old, of course. But in the overall scheme of things, I’m very well endowed in good health, and I’m grateful for it too.”
