Live stock exporters are urging the Federal Government to delay the annual moratorium on live sheep exports to help WA farmers struggling through droughts.

WA Agriculture Minister Jackie Jarvis has written to the Government calling for a 10-day delay.

Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council Chief Executive Mark Harvey-Sutton told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live how important this industry is to producers in the west and if you ban this industry its just a matter of who’s next.

“It will play a role, it could potentially enable another shipment or two…She’s acknowledged the importance of live export and the role it plays,” Harvey-Sutton said.
