The CMFEU has unleashes a blistering attack on Transport Minister Rita Saffioti and Finance Minister Sue Ellery after it was found a construction worker killed at Bayswater Train Station was a “sham contractor”, which may prevent his family from receiving compensation.

Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union State secretary Mick Buchan told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it “beggars belief”  that a worker can come into Australia, score an ABN number and just start working with no insurance cover.

“What’s happened in this case, and what’s been the practice across all of these Metronet projects is that they add up the cost of the agreement and then gouge the subcontractors who are tendering that work,” he said.
