Confusion has surrounded the reason why Perth will not be granted a traditional Grand Final parade with “terror threats” cited in several media reports on Tuesday.

However, 6PR sports reporter Paddy Sweeney says that’s “categorically incorrect”.

“There is no terror threat,” he told Mark Gibson filling in for Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

“It’s around liability, the culpability sits with the AFL.

“There’s going to be a free ticketed event on grand final eve … If something was to happen with COVID here in WA, the liability doesn’t sit with the WA government … but it sits with the AFL in terms of insurance.
