The Good Guys have confirmed they will temporarily stop the use of facial recognition technology amid an investigation by Australia’s privacy watchdog.

Consumer group CHOICE analysed the privacy policies of 25 major retailers and found that Kmart, Bunnings and The Good Guys appeared to be the only retailers using the controversial technology.

“The interesting part here will be if K-Mart and Bunnings follow suit,” 6PR Breakfast host Mark Gibson said.

In a complaint made to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), consumer group CHOICE analysed the privacy policies of 25 major retailers and found that Kmart, Bunnings and The Good Guys appeared to be the only retailers using the controversial technology.
