A Finder survey has revealed that 25 per cent of individuals advocate for the removal of cameras from checkouts.

Founder and Senior Strategist at Retail Oasis Stephen Kulmar joined Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons to discuss the habits of the average shopper. 

“In the last year to 18 months those theft rates have almost doubled in supermarkets, and the push for further surveillance is maybe a heavy handed tactic that most supermarket chains are prepared to take.”

“I think right about now you’ve got to assume it’s the cost of living pressures because you could discount the impact of self-serve checkout when a non-self serve checkout business like Aldi is also experiencing increasing theft,” Mr Kulmar said.
