As well all know there’s a lot of waste generated at Christmas, but where does it all go? How does our waste management system cope with the seasonal strain?

From wrapping paper to food waste to even some tragically-unwanted gifts, there’s a concerted effort every year to ensure Christmas waste is handled as responsible as possible.

“We have our yellow lidded bin for recyclables; then we have our green bin for green waste and in some suburbs for food organics as well from the kitchen. And when those first three bins get full, the greenwise bin is where a lot of that the contamination goes,” Mr Watts said.
