Richard Naughton – Author of “Daphne Akhurst: The Woman Behind the Trophy”

Daphne Akhurst won five Australian Open singles titles between 1925 and 1930. She died suddenly in 1933, at the age of 32. Since 1934 the winner of the women’s singles at the Australian Open receives the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup, in her honour.
