A Perth man has been fined $90,000 for adding a second storey to his home without getting approval.

But this happens more often than you would expect according to those in the industry.

“Certainly for larger structures, so the significant alterations and additions, indeed it does happen, but   that’s been far less common than for the more incidental structures, things like patios or sheds or workshops,” Jason Robertson, the Housing Director for the Master Builders Association WA, told 6PR Breakfast.
