The number of net permanent and long-term arrivals in October 2025 reached a record high, up 8% on last year.

Daniel Wild, Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of Public Affairs, explained to Perth Live host Russell Collett that migration remains one of the biggest concerns to Australians.

He stated: “These numbers are just absolutely out of control and one of the main contributing factors to this massive intake is the foreign student numbers,” he said.
