A Port Hedland councilor has made a bizarre appearance on Russian TV, congratulating Vladimir Putin on his recent election win.

Adrian McRae described the landslide victory as “the most transparent in the world”.

Mr McRae was elected to Port Hedland council earlier this month and has not yet been sworn in.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings they were well aware of the Kremlin’s attempts to sway international authorities to their side.
