Pill Testing: The debate

Millsy & Karl

A Perth researcher says pill testing at music festivals will save lived after he noticed 99% of users binned pills with unknown substances.

Dr Stephen Bright, a senior lecturer of addiction studies at ECU told 6PR Breakfast: “where they’ve implemented this (pill testing) overseas across Europe they’ve actually seen a decrease in taking drugs rather than an increase, because while the person’s getting their pillĀ  analysed it provides an opportunity to talk to people about their drug use.”

Our listeners continued the debate, with the opinions split.
John agreed drug use has decreased in places where drugs have been decriminalised while Ted said it encourages people to take drugs.
